First I had a look at all that digital stuff which promises the
ability of shooting movies to everyone. But after a quite long evaluation
period I still wasn't sure what camera would really match my needs.
I restarted to make photos in b/w and to develop them by my own
- which was the fundamental experience that pushed me to the decision
to buy a 16mm movie camera. In the meantime I also added a super
8 camera to the equipment. They both had to be revised of course.
But I'm sure I don't have to throw them away in four or five years
because they're damaged or they record on an old digital format.
For cutting I chose Lightworks by EditShare.
It's free, and I prefer its workflow to anything else I tried out.

I use microphones from Schoeps and Oktava. I rarely use shot gun
microphones as I made better experiences with my studio dedicated
gear, most of all for inside locations.
